Known for his monumentally scaled minimalist Modern paintings and equally astute marketing and design work, Pakistani artist Imran Mir (1950-2014) blurred the boundaries between art and design throughout his career. A major exhibition of his paintings and sculptures, featuring more than fifty works that span the artist’s four-decade long career as an artist and graphic designer. The exhibition featured some of the artist’s earliest painting and sculpture works from the 1970s- many of which are being shown in Asia for the first time- to his more recent experimentation with space and scale in the form of painting and sculpture.
Titled Imran Mir: The Alchemist of Line, the exhibition highlights the artist’s careful exploration of form and space. It also showcases the artist’s graphic design work, presented to the public for the first time at Mohatta Palace Museum. . CMA srudents of Basic Design and Editorial Design visited the exhibition yesterday. Imran Mir Foundation’s chairperson and his wife Nighat Mir was there to welcome students and applauded their interest in art and design.
